The term “GOOGLE” is not an alien word today. Almost everyone uses it today in this age of technology. The credit of creating Google goes to Sergey Brin and Larry Page. They both met each other in Stanford University. They decided to work together on a search engine name Backrub. Larry was inclined towards the working of Internet and Sergey had good grasp over maths and computers and so they both developed an automated web program, which is known as a crawler. A crawler evaluates the linking  of websites. This technology granted Larry and Sergey to rank any site on the basis of the value of pages linking to it.

They took up more bandwidth on the college’s servers when their crawler became popular. Finally, they decided to leave Stanford as they wanted to develop something more challenging. The word Google is derived from the word “googol” which stands for one followed by hundred zeros. It actually reflected their goal to classify the limitless quantity of information on the internet.

In the year 1998, Andy Bechtolsheim (Sun co-founder), assisted them financially and they hired their first employee. In the next six months, they added few more employees. In the year 2006, they acquired Youtube, which is a famous video sharing website. Later, in 2009, they added Google Images as a search option panel and then in the year 2010,they introduced Google Docs.

Reading this amazing tale of Google reminds me of the lines by David Frost:- “Don’t aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.
